TRI Seating
TRI Seating provides a robust, comfortable and joyful alternative to conventional, utilitarian platform benches. Research into passenger satisfaction revealed that train stations lack user-centred facility design and that lifespan or cost efficiency are too often made the priority. Thus, the rotating design provided by TRI aims to transform passenger experiences on platforms through being both practical and delightful.
The design uses an integrated belt pulley mechanism allowing triangular, prism shaped bars to rotate simultaneously. When the exposed surface is wet, the passenger simply turns the bars 60o to reveal a dry surface to sit on enabling them to relax and wait in comfort. Through an easy disassembly process, individual seats can be removed for maintenance by detaching tamper resistant bolts and folding down the end supports. Both metal and timber are used; 304 Stainless-Steel for its durability and Siberian Larch for its warmth and pleasant tactility.
