Personalised Bike Saddles
Humans were not biologically designed to sit on bikes and pedal them for hours, saddle fitting is about making what is essentially an unnatural activity feel as good as it can. Currently the objectives of the riders and saddle manufactures are not aligned. The manufactures want to create standardised saddle shapes and sizes to minimises production costs whilst the rider desires a diverse selection of fits and sizes.
In tackling this design challenge three key factors were identified as crucial steps to creating a personalised bike saddle; the acquisition of rider analytics, translating and processing the rider analytics allowing them to dictated the design of the saddle, and lastly how to manufacture a personalised product at scale.
